  • How far ahead should I register?

    All trips are filled on a first come, first served basis and is based on the date your deposit and registration form are received in the mail.

  • What is the process for booking a tour?

    First, fill out the CONTACT US form for trip availability. Second, we will respond by letting you know if there is space available or a waitlist has started. Third, fill out and send in the registration form from the website and deposit check in U.S funds to She Flew Birding Tours. Please send to She Flew Birding Tours, c/o Sue Riffe, 96 Antelope Dr, Lyons, CO 80540. Fourth, we will send you confirmation that you have a seat on the tour and include an information packet. Fifth, a reminder email is sent when your final payment is due. Now you get to enjoy a great birding adventure!

  • Can I have my own room and is it safe to travel by myself?

    Single rooms are available at most places and a single supplement will be added to your tour cost. We have found that everyone traveling by themselves feels comfortable on our tours as we are inclusive and welcoming.

  • What is the pace of the tour and how fit do I have to be?

    Birds are most active in the morning so early departures are part of most trips unless otherwise noted. Clear descriptions of all activities are given so you can make informed choices. Some trips have special considerations listed. We always have your safety and comfort in mind.

  • Tell me about the food and if you can accommodate special diets.

    Dinners are at local non-chain restaurants near our hotel. We look for a variety of food types during a trip. We always look for places that have vegan and vegetarian options for special diet needs. Lunches are usually at healthy fast-food eateries or in the field.

  • What kind of accommodations do you select?

    We look for hotels that are clean, safe, affordable, comfortable, and near our birding destinations. If Eco Lodges are available, we stay there.

  • How many birders per tour?

    We usually have 3-8 participants to maximize the client to leader ratio unless otherwise noted.

  • Is this a women’s only tour?

    Everyone is always welcome. We are a women owned and operated business that strives on inclusivity.

  • What IS included on my tour?

    Unless otherwise noted, meals listed in the itinerary, lodging, tour ground transportation, entrance fees, baggage handling, and expert guide(s) are included.

  • What is NOT included on my tour?

    Transportation to and from tour departure points, alcoholic beverages, room service, extra personal hotel fees, trip insurance, passport and visa fees, phone calls, laundry, hospitalization, evacuation, or guide(s) tips and other items of a personal nature.

  • What happens if there is bad weather before or during our tour?

    There are no refunds for travel delays or cancellations due to weather before arrival or during the scheduled tour. She Flew Birding Tours is not responsible for any additional costs that may be incurred by flight or weather delays, cancellations, natural or political disasters, or otherwise. To protect yourself against unforeseen scenarios, trip insurance is recommended.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    Cancellation Policy 

    After the deposit is received and before the 90 full payments due.

    • Cancellations = 50% of deposit will be refunded if in writing.

    All money is due 90 days prior to departure.

    Cancellations from 60-90 days prior to departure

    • 50% of the total paid will be refunded.

    Cancellations from 30-59 days from trip departure

    • 25% of the total paid will be refunded.
    • Cancellations inside 30 days from trip departure, 0% will be refunded.

    Deposit Penalty: Deposits become non-refundable and non-transferable on the date that final payment is due. There is a $200 per person handling fee. Prior to that date will be no penalty if your deposit is transferred to the same or another tour with future dates within 18 months from the date of cancellation or to the same tour within 12 months of the cancellation.

    NO REFUND will be made for lost nights or services due to flight delays or cancellation, including weather delays. NO REFUND will be made for portions of your tour or travel services that you choose to opt out of such as guided walks or meals. NO REFUND will be made for any unused portion of the tour or for “no shows”. This policy and fee schedule also applies to pre- and post- tour extensions. CANCELLATION POLICY IF WE CANCEL SERVICES: If we are unable to confirm the tour, (rare) you may receive a full refund or apply all funds to another journey of your choice. If a tour must be cancelled or rescheduled due to circumstances beyond our control, such as a natural disaster, disease outbreak, global pandemic, warfare, or other circumstances considered to be an Act of God / Force Majeure, you will be given options for reimbursement or rescheduling based on the timing of this situation and whether we can retrieve full funds or credit for services paid to vendors. We will always provide reschedule options.
